Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a classified DSM-5 diagnosis that is characterized by persistent, and unwanted intrusive thoughts (obsessions) that individuals would feel compelled to act specific “rituals” repetitively (compulsions) to neutralize the anxiety and emotional distress. Obsessional thoughts can include the fear of consequences to self or loved ones if rituals are not completed.
